To turn or not to turn... This is the question..

Only one claim is correct : only people who can change position unhindered during their sleep, will enjoy a revitalizing sleep and wake up full of energy. This statement is, for that matter, scientifically proven and confirmed by quite a few European sleep research authorities. The natural behaviour of movement during sleep should never be hampered.

Prof. Dr.Jurgen Zulley, Head of Medical Sleep Research Center at Regensburg :

"Nightly movements during sleep must not be hampered, as healthy sleepers turn over in bed up to sixty times a night".

Prof. Dr. Raymond Cluydts, Free University of Brussels, Departement for Cognitive and Biological Psychology :

"Contrary to what people think, sleep is not passive: body and mind remain fairly active. So we have to be able to move freely. If not, we wake up the next morning with painful muscles and joints and it will be hard to be fresh and alert during the day".

Who is a "Healthy sleeper" ?

A healthy sleeper should, therefore be able to move freely during his sleep. The less muscle labour or energy needed for that, the better the quality of the sleep and the fitter the sleeper will feel in the morning.

My latex mattress does not cause any allergies - Right!

Natural latex causes an allergic reaction in 1 out of 10,000 people. However, the onset of latex allergy is inextricably linked to the use of unwashed latex products, such as surgical gloves. The washing cycle is crucial in the manufacturing process of latex mattresses and pillows: the products are carefully washed at very high temperatures. In this way, all the proteins that may cause the onset of latex allergies, are eradicated. So far, not one single case of latex allergy has been reported from people sleeping on a natural latex mattress.

A mattress has to be hard - Wrong!

In the past, people indeed invariably said a mattress had to be hard. However, it has now been  proven that every body has a mattress that is ideal for it. Soft, medium or firm depends on the body's weight and you have to combined it with the flexibility of your bed!!

Everyone needs 8 hours of sleep per night - Wrong!

Sleeping research has shown that sleep needs differ between individuals, ranging from 4 to 11 hours per night. Children generally need more sleep. Elderly people can do with less.

Ventilate your mattress every day, by airing your bed - Right

Men sleep 8 hours, on average, while women only sleep 6.5 hours

Men’s sleeping problems are mostly due to too long hours’ of watching television or surfing the Internet, eating too much or drinking too much alcohol.
